For those of you who've worked in a company and have experienced "team building exercises", I want to hear what they put you through :)

I've sort of blocked the memories of mine since they all took place in a mosquito-laden ~~swamp~~ campground...

Oh yes... Team Building Activities. What a tiring satisfying group work. I recall one of our challenges which is to bring down one of our members by lifting him / her and carry him / her down from 3rd floor down to the first without bringing him / her down.

I hate you SO much. Noseburbling with gingerale is painful, but clears the sinus well ;). I still have the giggles at the mental images that will ensue in the next few pages..OH my yes!

Seems like Murphy's law will strike again, at least from her point of view. For the others it could be, depending on her clothing status be a stairway to heaven.

Blindfolded Obstacle Course - Yup... no chance anyone would get injured while trying to climb down a fake rock wall while blindfolded... while their 'guide' gets bored and tries to chat up another 'guide' (guides were responsible for the safety ropes as well as talking the climber down) ... or trying to walk a balance beam obstacle... while their 'guide' focuses more on touching up her nails than guiding... (not my workplace, I was part of the emergency services volunteer team who attended the first incident... my friend attended the second less than hour later while we were just about finished with our patient in at the ED)... business attending it was an advertising firm... strangely the company running the event folded not long after. Mind you, my own company has done somewhat less stupid team building events... with the same results... the only thing to come out of it is that we all agree that management has absolutely no idea of what team or morale building is... ;-)

I don't see why she had to change where she won't be seen. She still has clothes underneath. Or is she going to change out of them as well? That could be problematic.

I haven't had any team building experience with any workplace, mostly because I haven't had that many jobs yet. But we once got to go on a team building day when I was studying a couple of years back. We went and did a high rope course, climbing around on and between platforms in trees at heights between 3 and 15 metres above ground. There was a lot of safety equipment and wires involved and at the end you got to ride down a zipline. It was a lot of great fun! Team building exercise done right!

@MadMax She needs to change out of those clothes. Unless a T-shirt and jeans are deemed suitable attire for an interview!

Well she looks like shes changing on the 27th floor. So unless they start on the 25th floor she should be fine or will at least have a decent warning.

A T-shirt can only be suitable for an interview... that may be a job interview... if it's under a dress shirt. Jeans? No.

Jan what happens next?.

Full moonage indoors. Nosebleeds galore. virgin eyes forever attacked. And someone falling down the stairs with a cellphone jammed up the nose.
Fun and frolicking as she hears the noise. Agile cat runs up stairs. Super tiger bursts out stairwell into next door she sees. Next door is interviewroom with the poor two folks that sent out that advert and the boss on a casual chat. The horror ensues! Can she still have a good interview?.
Jan being the evil evil naughty minx he is has her pose all naturally, claim she is the special course instructor and tell them stopping or staring is loss of team points. Paniced freshmen like team buys her snappy line of patter and run by letting her free to dress again, strut to her meeting, and ACE that sucka!

It wasn’t exactly a "team building exercise" per se, but at a former job, they would occasionally have office-themed parties with “games” aimed at improving employee morale and easing the seasonal moods. Doughnut hole toss was one of my faves... :D

Everything usually went well, until the time one of the assistant HR reps blurted “Ooh I know. Hot coffee/cup relay time everyone!”

welll... other then some of the Ropes for summer camps when I was younger I haven't been in any... nor do I have a job that had required that team buildings were necessary. as for what's going to happen next? pain... some much pain... XD with a dark fox falling down the stairs? jk

@Jan Actually, interviewers in the creative industry (at least, those I know, anyway) don't seem to mind a shirt and jeans as long as you're dressed neatly. That being said though, those chaps would probably raise a few eyebrows :P

Having been in the corporate world in the past I can tell you 90% of the people in it still expect "THE DRESS CODE' to be followed. That means for men - jacket, tie, suit. etc . I called it the monkey suit.

@LionkingCMSL Yep, I was able to find the Gneech at FC, though we weren't able to hang out much since I spent 90% of my time running about from place to place :p Again, I need to better plan my trips next time -- I had no idea Cerulean lived in the Philly area!

@rhyfe2002 @MishaFox I worked in the creative industry for years... over here, collared shirt and nice pants/shoes/etc. are a must. Thank goodness they're more forgiving on ties... I hate wearing ties! :P I've almost forgotten, the rubber sole detached from my shoe one time RIGHT AFTER an interview... close call!

Team Building Exercises... Well they usually end up both uniting everyone participating in annoyance with management and the hired trainer. And splitting everyone apart as everyone tries to do their own thing and it all comes down like a burning rope bridge. ....don't ask about the burning rope bridge...just don't... whimpers under my desk
