When redesigning something to go faster, the ability to stop always seems to be an afterthought. At least, Wolf wasn't in it... this time.

Looks like Wolf just can't catch a "brake". (Sorry. Pun quota for the day has been reached. I'll be good now.) It seems he'll be racking up quite the total for collateral damage by the time this little streak has run its course. But that's okay, sacrifices for science, and all that. He'll leave an impressive legacy! Maybe folks will even start measuring the probability of spectacular and humorous mechanical failure in "Wolframs".

With any luck, this contraption just hit Prof.Bullsworth, giving further proof that brakes are completely useless and would defy the meaning of any of Wolfs constructions: to cause as much mayhem as possible with the least pre-planned effort :-)

Indagare, you obviously don't know Wolf very well. He's the epitome of ADD. He has grand plans that are EASILY waylaid by, "Ooh. A butterfly. I wonder how it works."

@Soriac: I beg to differ. Many of Wolf's constructions so far have been useful and effective...maybe not to client specs, but the cushion-missile-enabled-booby-trapped sofa bed performed as expected. If he wanted mayhem, he'd have engineered mayhem. But I agree...with any luck, Bullsworth got a huge dose of Karma.

@KyleTheFrenetic: I'm sure Wolf didn't brake anything too important. Once he gets his mind in gear he'll clutch onto any great idea and his lupine stamina makes sure he'll never tire. He treads more carefully now than he did in college. He may shift to mech engineering as a differential PhD focus, though. As for Bullsworth dismissing Wolf, he sure piston off, but that pompous airbag will get shafted in the way he deserves.

I'm not so sure about a "Master Kill Switch."

Given how Wolf does things, it may be that such a switch would have a quite literal meaning, although unintentional....

@Sonic_Wolfe: Regenerative Braking (return energy to storage) and/or Dynamic Braking (dump energy to resistor banks and dissipate) only works at road speeds, effectiveness falls off as you slow down.

And when there's a systems failure like the motor controller fails or the resistor grid goes open, it goes away. (With Wolf, it's not an if but a when...) You need redundant braking.

Still need good old fashioned friction materials to make a full stop, and a parking brake of some sort to keep it there.
