Hands up: who had a gaming computer that doubled as a space heater? ;) My PC 13 years ago was one of those...

I'll continue to draw AMAs this week. S&S is still facing delays due to the script turning into Benny-Hill-meets-Rube-Goldberg...

I used to mine Bitcoin on a 6990 way back. Had to leave the side panels off with a boxfan on one side; made the mistake of leaving the side panels on once and ended up frying the harddrive - if I put the drive in the freezer I could get it to "work" at a blistering 4 bits per second for a couple minutes.

@Jan: I used to run a computer with an AMD FX-9590 8-core processor. Awesome for gaming and AutoCAD. It was pretty much on par with Intel processors but AMD's generate a LOT more heat. I had to build a custom cooling loop because a 2x120mm radiator all-in-one liquid cooler wouldn't fit in my case (and the custom kit was actually less expensive than a larger case!).

Too bad they stopped making socket AM3+ mainboards. I moved over to an Intel core i7 because of that, when my last board fried. Intel is pricier, but has better thermal efficiency.

Also I would like to ask a question. When was the last time andrea smiled, but wasn't due to evil thoughts? She allways seems so concerned or scared half to death. o.O Maybe an all expense paid trip to the clothing and crafts emporium is due.

@Silverwolf: I had a 9590 myself and yeah, with a massive cooling system and a total of 5 case fans on top of that to make the inside a wind tunnel... It would hit 80C when running just 2 of my graphics and 3-D programs. It eventually burnt out and even scorched the socket of the Motherboard. Got a Rysen and it barely tops 30C under full use with my cooling set up. Love making wind tunnels...

@Jan: Getting to this comic no problem from the link in Discord. However it is not showing up when using the main page menus nor is it showing in the Archive. Menu and Archive only goes up to the pole dancing one.

when I was on the ship, I had a pentium 4 laptop that would leave burns on my legs if I dared run it in on my lap in shorts. since then I have upgrades heavily and my computer just cant warm me up.. unless yo ucount the power block. that thing gets nice and toasty

Maybe i did something wrong, but had no 'puter acting like the suns core. AMD Athlon 800mhz (Slot A) - those puny fans (2x) on the heatsink died more or less each year. Amd Phenom II B925 - died a few weeks ago due to dried heat transfer paste. After over 8 years of duty.

...maybe i should get an intel next...

This is an actual thing. A Dutch company is using blade servers as house heating for customers. They install the blade and cover the annual electricity costs. I never had a gaming computer. Nor anything else that was used for long enough to serve as backup heater. ;w;
