Wow. That reminds me of my college roommate. He downed 4 cans of Monster in a single afternoon. The crash afterward was quite brutal. I had to take him to the on campus health clinic, and he did not remember anything.

You can thank the SCA actually for energy drinks really being a thing. Lets turn back the clock to the initial marketing test of JOLT cola. The first 'energy drink' before there was such a name. In this case, high sugar content and the then legal limit of caffeine. Let's look into this small town in Pennsylvania which was one location of the marketing test. When low and behold a certain local annual event was taking place at a campground nearby. The Pennsic War. A Medieval war re-imagination consisting of several thousand participants and lasting a week. Where guys and gals in heavy armor fought it out on the plains for their kingdoms. On a supply run to the local town a few of the fighters found the cola and bought some. Drank it, and had a heck of a time walloping their opponents. Next day a massive stream of fighters invaded the town and bought....every...single...can. Marketing test: SUCCESS! High caffeine drinks flood the markets. This is your history lesson for the day.

I got much of the same effect from drinking quad-shot espressos when I was in the US Navy; one of the perks of being a cook working nights in the pilot's wardroom on a supercarrier. A couple quad-shots could keep me wired all night.

I remember back in the 90's, I was in Las Vegas, on detachment with the RAF. They were selling a cola that had twice the normal sugar and three times the caffeine. @Rocketroo - Had a similar experience LARPing. The big battle always started late. Like, one in the too damn early late. This was going to be a big one, so right before the fight, I choked down TWO energy drinks.

I have very little memory of that battle.

There was at one point a cute wolfen girl got downed by two ogres. I shouted "GET AWAY FROM HER!" and charged. I was third level. The ogres clearly did NOT like what they saw in my eyes, and RAN.

Jolt Cola's first official motto "All the sugar and twice the caffeine;" because it had the maximum US legal limit of caffeine and all the real sugar of old fashioned colas.

If Amber can't remember what happened, it means the drink also contains lorazepam. Not as a roofie, but as a safety measure to protect the drinker from the seizures that all that caffeine may cause!

Maybe also some amiodarone to prevent the SVT's.
