Experiencing downtown traffic can sort of be a touristy thing to do. Okay, not really...

I think Wolf's dad is the type who promises to bring the kids to Disneyland but actually brings them to the local Chuck E Cheese instead X3

while somewhat bummed they didn't go to the science-y thingy, Id actually be just as interested in supply shop. Granted, with some spare coin or else it would be a bit of a bummer, but maybe...

Amazingly Chuck E Cheese actually still exists, though they were talking of filing bankruptcy last year. Not sure what became of that, but just hearing about it made me say "I didn't even know they still existed". Definitely grew up with them in the 80s and 90s.

@Tir_Amahn -- Chuck E. Cheese's did declare bankruptcy last year (2020). It was a Chapter 11 bankruptcy, though, which is "protection from creditors while we try to get our financial house in order and restructure", rather than "we're going out of business and liquidating the assets." They actually emerged from Chapter 11 in January 2021, under new ownership and a new board of directors. They still have most of their physical locations, but they're also doing a lot of catering for off-premise parties (birthdays, Halloween, etc.) now, too.

Makes me miss Fry's, honestly. Big warehouse with industrial-looking shelves full of electronics. Was always fun to visit.

Knowing this crew, they'd end up at Freddy Fazbear's rather than Chucky Cheese... That said, at least until the decline of arcade games, I'd say that Chucky was a viable and much less inexpensive alternative. Also less tiring.

I find such kinds of places good for some of the components for my many hobbies. My hobbies include herpetoculture, cloning edible and other useful mushrooms, invertebrate culture, restoring my yard back to Palouse Prairie, fusor construction (if I can get past practical breakeven, I can heat the house and water and run a car and perhaps an air craft or even a warp capable ship) advanced and high energy electronics (such as building a high wattage 120KV power supply for the fusor, rewiring and building some of the components for my church sound system and light organs and voice modification for costuming) building vivaria for my herps and inverts, water features and irrigation for native plants, herps, inverts and other native organisms, composting and top dressing the soil to encourage native soil microbes and other native soil organisms, modifying my roof to grow more Palouse Prairie on, moss gardening and bonsai, electronic music, with many of the modules home built, save the world,

@Jan: I think there might be an ulterior motive for Wolfram's dad to not bring him to Disneyland...first, of course, there's the obvious possibility of destruction. But the consequences would likely be..."Sir, we want to hire your son. If he can find these holes in our safety systems, we can get ahead of a lot of problems!"

All we had was a Pizza Shack (small town) ... which was better zhan nozhing.

@Mr. Casual Ze last time I was at Fry’s, 90% of ze ‘old-hand’ employees were suddenly gone and 80% of ze shelves/floorspace were empty. I zhen realized zhat it was ze end of an era...

I didn’t get to go often, but quite a few hours were spent browsing shelves and trying not to drools on ze merchandise.
