@AlyxVixen Cash is handy when electronic means of payment fail. I walked into a coffee shop, they said, "Can't serve you right now, cash app (an apple device) is down." Me: "How about I just give you five dollars and you can ring it up later?" They looked at me as though I came up with an astounding new thing. Got my coffee though.

Iv never had this problem, but with that said, I usually keep my loose change in the cup holder in my car. o.o

On the one hand, I sympathize with Jan. On the other...I have had absolutely no reason to carry change, just bills for quite a while now.

Gorilla brand duct tape makes a surprisingly efficient torn pocket patch. Even stands up to multiple trips through the washer and dryer.

Can always buy a coin pouch to stuff loose change in and empty it every weekend into a change jar. take the change jar to the bank whenever it's full. you'd be surprised at how much change you can save up this way.

Just food for thought, sense people are commenting on the topic; I tend to carry 2 bank cards, about $100 cash, and 2 credit cards: 1 supported by chase and labeled paypal, 1 tagged for homedepot. I've also got 2k stuck away in a lock box in case off "another" long term brownout in our area... and enough seeds to start a garden covering 5 acres if I had a mind to (not that I'm quite that dumb, plan on false starts and learning curves). Basically enough to handle anything that might go wrong clear up to "HEY, PANDEMIC ALERT! NO ONE IN OR OUT OF TOWN!" Covid came through and we didn't notice till we made a trip into town to by icecream.

Cash tips for the waitress also tends to go to said waitress, while tips on the card more often then not go to management, for those who still like to show their appreciation for the good extra mile from some who's trying to do their best by you and everyone else.

On that "cash_vs_card" topic, here's a simple rule: it doesn't matter, what year it is, until there are no flying cars, there's no point in virtual money :P Y'all can figure out the rest.
