Honestly I can't wait to move into house with storage water heater and thermostatic shower faucet. My parents have 20+ years old combined natural gas flow water heater with no maintenance and you really don't want anything like that. At winter you can turn on faucet, check news, visit toilet and when you get back, there is like 80% chance that water will be lukewarm at most, sometimes it's still cold. Taking shower is similar story, by waiting for it to heat up itself and somehow stabilize temperature (temperature oscillates wildly at beginning) you can easily waste more water than you need to wash yourself. "Solution" is of course to take bath and regularly check temperature as you can't trust your water heater :/ On other hand, thanks to broken three-way valve, if heater is heating up radiators and you open faucet, you'll randomly scald yourself with sudden burst of 80˚C water and steam coming out of faucet. Damn I really can't wait to move out.

....been there, done that, broke the shower door by (trying) to jump out the shower stable.

@Mav At european or north american conditions? The tap water usually has 4C or 39F. Happened to my wife lately, when the heater had a problem over night.

@michael north american conditions and i started doing it because i heared that having cool or cold showers makes your body burn fat to warm your body back up. Not alot just alittle.

That's the reason we use a fly-by gas heater: well water is +6 on a very hot day. (r0ight.. colder than a fridge soda)
