I remember shooting with my dad as a kid. he duct taped a piece of cardboard to my arm for this very reason (having lost the plastic bracer that came with my Jr. archery kit). I miss being a kid..

When my sister's boyfriend tried to teach me how to shoot a bow, I rapidly came to the realization that the more physical pain one experienced, the better the shot went off... =^^;

I did that to myself once..... looked at the rising bruise......went back to shooting. The only way you hit yourself is if your arm rotates slightly and goes into the path of the string and why isn't he using finger guards? i have a very nice pair that only covers the tip of 3 fingers which took me a week to find.

Is it good or bad that I've never hit my forearm when firing an arrow? Something tells me that means my form is off...

Haha Memories, I was decent at archery, haven't shot for a couple of years though. I only used fingerguards though. My arm would always cock just enough as to not strike the incoming string but not far enough as to throw off the shot.

It happens to me because I'm somewhat double-jointed at the elbow. So the inside of my arm can't help but drift into harm's way.
