Kitchen-fix Ramsey-style = excessive, and leaves you with an even bigger problem. Computer-fix Jan-style = still excessive, but way more satisfying.

This reminds me of an issue I had with a program when I was in college. I had two TAs check my code and tell me it was fine, and I finally printed it out, deleted the file, made a new one, typed the code back in, and it worked. I'd even checked the code with an editor that shows every character including special ones, and it didn't show any extra characters. The first file I wrote just wouldn't compile.

Oh... this reminds me of the time I orphaned a part of memory on my motherboard in my own C++ class...

I hated learning how to access then return memory. GRRRRRRRRR

LOL story of my life re computer code. Lost count how many late nights I've spent (and I'm talking wee small hours) trying to find out why a bit of code won't run
