And so we come to the conclusion of our story! It is with warm hugs and fond farewells that we draw the curtains on the escapades of Jan, Wolf, Phil, Amber and Shiera in their college years.

If you enjoyed reading this comic, please consider purchasing a copy of the book, which collects everything you've read plus bonus material not seen online. Book sales help me out tremendously and enable me to continue drawing more comics like this.

"More comics?" you inquire, with piqued curiosity.

I continued writing stories about the College Catastrophe cast in their lives after college. Living on their own, finding a job, workplace antics... things I've personally experienced and found amusing enough to write about. The sequel is called "Nine to Nine", and I'm hoping to bring it to life as a webcomic!

So, grab a book, so we may begin on adventures anew! :)

@SpikerDragon95 Very much so! I can't wait to get started on the new comic! :D

My girlfriend loved the personal signed copy of CC she received for Christmas! Thanks and we can't wait for the next installment!

gasp NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOÖOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! Honestly, I think I'm gonna cry...This was such a good comic! I hate seeing the good ones end, especially since I just started college and liked the advice and situations here....At least tell me that Swords and Sausages has a future still! I love your work, art style, and sense of humor especially...Job well done on this....though I'm a little sad we didn't get to see graduation...oh, and I love you Jan!! -Sasha...

Over??? Aw, shit. Now I have nothing to look forward to on Saturdays :(

Jan
Jan « 27 Jan 2013

@Sasha Aww, thanks! :) Don't cry; the stories will continue. And there's an idea -- I could draw flashback sequences of their graduation in the new comic ;) Swords and Sausages has a long road ahead of it, too.

@Chris Hopefully, the sequel will fill the Saturday gap once it's under way...

So much to look back to and so much to look forward to as well! @SpikerDragon95: I still feel sad, anyway, but, wait... ¡Madre de Dios! Jan speaks spanish?! I knew he ain't no yankee but, boy, the coincidences that life gives you! Not to be invasive but, what country? @insomniacinlv: Great gift choice! That's the way it's done. :D I must also ask, is the sequel already finished since a long time, like this comic (I hope not!), or is it still in development?

soriac
soriac « 27 Jan 2013

sigh so, this era comes to an end, too bad, it has been a nice one (reminded me a bit of my college/university and dorm time, which at least concerning the people I lived with, was the best one). I hope they still see each other in the future, most people will go seperate ways after study :-(

But I've been curious, how much were the guys in CC based on real people? Was there a human counterpart to Wolf, Amber, Tor or Phil with similair behavior? Imagine what that would mean if Wolf would be out there somewhere and he has access to such dangerous substances like diet coke and Menthos??

Irbis
Irbis « 27 Jan 2013

BWAAAAAAAAAA!!! It's over!!! It was a great comic, funny and entertaining Thank you for your work

Jan
Jan « 27 Jan 2013

It's Q and A time!

@Silly Zealot 1. I don't speak Spanish; I got a translation courtesy of Google Translate ;) 2. I'm in Hong Kong. 3. The sequel is in development, but I've got a good collection of stories written already.

@soriac I guess my comic tries to be true to life in a sense (but with added zaniness(tm)), so some characters will go their separate ways, while others will cross paths again. As for human counterparts, yes, some characters are based roughly on people I know. Phil is quite an accurate portrayal of his counterpart, while Wolf is a mixup of an ex-roommate and my own quirkiness.

@Irbis Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it! :D

That was such a great comic.

Would it be fine if I hugged your characters?

WAtheAnum « 27 Jan 2013

you should end if it is the best moment. i guess jan did a great job with this comic and will open now a new chapter. for other people, like the fans or me, jan still draw S&S, which comes out every saturday and i cant wait to see more from it. Nice could be when i come anytime in this comic X3 heheh W.A. the rouge...XD the idea. well anyways, very well CC, it was and it is still a good comic... closes slowly the book

i hope it will have lots of Wolf in it,my absolut favorit. He is undoubtly the most funny and zanny guy i can imagine.

Jan
Jan « 28 Jan 2013

@WAtheAnum Well, it was hard to find a "best moment" (in the story), because the comic was very much a slice of life, jumping around from here to there without too much continuity. If you meant "best moment" for myself, then yeah... I have new projects I want to get around to, and this is a good time to finish up. :)

@Interstate2011 And they hug you in return!

@Meiyo Hehe, I hope so too! You should compare notes against this comic while you're at it.

@The Gneech I miss Suburban Jungle... I'm hoping to hear more about future SJ projects! :3

@Moonwolf Wolf will definitely be in the sequel. He's kind of hard not to write stories for ;)

Durosuka « 28 Jan 2013

I am gonna miss this commic a lot. the Character of Jan fits me almost perfectly. Heck I'm a programmer. I even made had maths as well, and wrote pan cake once as well. a friend of mine fits Wolf. he is semi self destructive :P

But... but... I just found this comic before Christmas. ;.;

Well... at least it's not OVER-over. I'm really lookin' forward ta Nine to Nine, when that rolls around. But I'll be sad 'til then. Even though there's still Swords & Sausages. ;.;

WAtheAnum
WAtheAnum « 28 Jan 2013

@Jan Well i know this feelings to, as an artist myself, i dont only draw, i create characters with background, life and story. Like W.A. and Faly (as sample). They met each other, merry, had "this" moments and finally they will get a child. I love to get forward and not only "CHANGE" (like race changes, gender changes, etc.) coz people dislike to see my chars or something, no. I build forward ^^ so for my self: i cant wait see forward your new art :3

Lavabat
Lavabat « 28 Jan 2013

I have had my book version of College Catastrophe for a while now! I like the filler bits - especially Amber in her dominatrix costume for the Halloween bash! And Wolf's TP mummy costume! :P

Though I do have to wonder if Amber's dominatrix costume was merely a costume...all that leather must have been expensive... >:3

Flare Starfire
Flare Starfire « 28 Jan 2013

Wait what? Noooo.... I hope you'll make a big announcement if / when the sequel starts up...

Moonwolf
Moonwolf « 29 Jan 2013

@Jan: Yeeeeah.thats good to hear.

Wolf is kind of the thing that i missed in S&S.not that the guys there were not wacky already but still..there is always someone to top it off. My Crazy-o-meter goes: <wacky -="" zanny="" -="" crazyy="" -="" wolf=""> ^^ .(and yes ,wacky is the lowest crazyness. ;) ).

Now excuse me while i read the whole archive yet again :D

Jan
Jan « 29 Jan 2013

@Lavabat Heh, that came from a story which never ran -- where Jan loses everyone at the shopping mall and has to go around all the shops trying to round them up again. Amber somehow ended up in the leather store.. an awkward moment for both of them ensued... >:3 I thought it was quite funny, but worried about it for some reason. Perhaps I'll bring it back in the sequel.

@Flare Starfire Will do! If you keep up with S&S, there's bound to be an announcement there. Or check in on my Fur Affinity/DeviantArt pages or Twitter.

@Durosuka You may be one of the few people who understood the programming jokes I made. I think everyone else just went, "wha...?"

@Jessica Hopefully, it won't be long! Maybe re-reading the archives will cheer you up :)

soriac
soriac « 30 Jan 2013

@Jan: the best comics are those the reader can relate himself to with (at least) one character, and I would be surprised if the somewhat geeky college gaduates who can understand your TCS jokes pretty well, would be a minority here :-) For me at least, this was one of several reasons I like this comic, things like in strip#2001-09-29 were pretty funny in my opinion, and according to the comments, I was not alone :-)

Well, at least I'm just putting all the CC strips together in one .cbr and have them all the time with me on my phone, this should help me waiting for the new series :-)

Awww...I have been reading this for well over a year and I have to say I love the artwork, love the story and thoroughly enjoyed the characters you created. I laughed at a lot of the situations they got into - a lot were like my own experiences (except they didn't end up getting into model rocket science like I did lol. Explosives aren't as much fun as midair explosions!) I don't usually bother with comments but I was saddened so much to see CC end that I just had to say thanks. Thank you Jan for a wonderful comic. I will keep reading s&s to keep enjoying your art.

@Blackmane Yay, model rockets! Those are fun, if you don't mind losing one in the trees every once in a while ;) All of mine went into the trees... at least they didn't set the forest alight!

@Vlad Drago Kids love bookmarks, don't they? XD Anyhoo, I can do that. I'll have it set up on Monday.

nnnnnnnnoooooooooo sigh I just read all of your comics in less than 24 hours and now its over sigh well I guess it was bound to happen I'll have to check out that book though. Thank you so so much for entertaining all of us for so long!

dracone
dracone « 17 Feb 2013

will there be a follow up with a whole new cast at same college?

Jan
Jan « 18 Feb 2013

@dracone Honestly, I've run out of college stories.. at least for a 'normal' college. If I did a strip about art school, I think that will be too niche. Besides, I think we all want to see these characters move on in their lives ;)

Mobyulus « 22 Feb 2013

I only caught this recently. While fun to be able to read years of comics in the span of a few hours, it's sad when a good thing comes to an end. Really looking forward to the future of S&S and whatever other comics may come. Keep it up Jan.

Ths Ended on my Birthday, and I never even knew it till today, how could you take it away before I even knew about it on my Birthday of all days! ... also I think I've just spent an hour reading this thing through. My eyes, they bleed!

I enjoyed it a lot, though guess I'll have to enjoy Swords and Sausages twice as much now. :P

« 24 Mar 2013

I just had a thought, what would the grade school, Junior High/Middle School, High school adventures of the main cast's theoretical kids be like. Or we could see their Shenanigans before they came to the college and met each other, personally I think the adventures of their kids would be more amusing, it could be a companion comic for "Nine to Nine". Of course its just a thought and if you decide to do so, Jan, it might be amusing.
