On slightly unrelated news, I'm getting my wisdom teeth removed on Monday >.< I don't foresee it interrupting my art schedule (other than the day off for the procedure), but in case it does, that would be why :P

@Kangaar Foxfire Go watch videos of cats fighting. If it becomes mano a mano, they end up standing in place and swiping blindly in front of them.

@Jan, I'm not sure what kind of cats you were watching, but the cat fights that I've seen are nothing like that. When they get down and serious, it's a clench at the upper end, with teeth involved, and the hind legs are kicking hard with claws out. Fur literally flies. Not pretty. Not fun to watch. They may start out with a bunch of yelling, and some swats with the forepaws, but if one of them doesn't choose to back down, it gets real. Real fast.

@Jan: I'd recommend IV sedation if you can tolerate it with a good oral/maxillofacial surgeon. First time I had that happen I was still awake with a sensation of time, but no pain. Curious, but not too traumatic, the doc talked me through it the whole time. Second time I needed a ligation, and he really zonked me out...from start to where the hell am I now?

Well, considering what comic this is, I would say this style of fighting is more destructive than any fight Godzilla vs Tokyo ;-)

P.S: good luck with the w-teeth. Mine were removed 20 years ago. Yes, wasn't nice, but sadly necessary, took a few days each (they got extracted in succession) before the pain dwindled, yay for pain killers, but after that you never have to worry about any problems with w-teeth again. ever :-) I think it was a good deal...

Kittybird to the rescue ! And the dragon is wearing the crown {and} the King, one clinging to each horn. My dentist just used a strong local, the whole side of my head was numb the rest of the day - not really that bad. Paying the bill hurt worse than the procedure, and it put an end to the nagging toothache I'd been bothered with for a month. Good luck, and keep your chin up. ( Or wherever the dentist tells you to put it.)

@Jan i'm also a survivor of those wisdoms removed. Been lucky to have had more or less straight roots, only 2 root tips broke off and were left back in the jawbone, they'll degrade naturally as long as one rinses regularly for a few days with for example camoille tea or other antiseptic and anti-inflammatory liquids.

If the roots of yours are also more or less straight it'll go well. Twisted roots means one hell of a surgery.

@ndrvr My roots are twisted like hell, wrapped around the nerve and all. So it will be a complex procedure. Guess I'll find out in about 12 hours from now... meep! :E

As a friend commented to me when I showed them the comic: "If everyone aways runs away when you show up, how would you know how to actually fight?" Considering that, this is probably the first fight either of those two have ever had.

@Spindizzy: It does depend on how experienced at fighting they are. Thinking about what my friend said (quoted above), it shows in my house cats, who maybe will swipe once or twice at each other in an argument then go sulk for an hour. VS the ferals in the neighborhood that can remove the hide off a badger.

@Jan: Good luck on the teeth. Dentistry has gotten better in a lot of ways than it was when my older brothers had to have surgery for same issue (I got lucky). Still if you aren't up for the next update we will all understand. Take it easy and recover first.

@Jan, my experience with cats is the same as Spindizzy's. My mother, on average, kept 3-4 at a time and they were always fighting with the local strays.

Re wisdom teeth, they're one of the few parts of my body that worked right. Came through without the slightest drama, still there decades later. My sister on the other hand went through Hell and had to have them all removed.

Will be praying for you Jan.

Addendum: I was going to mention that if there's a creature that fights by swiping blindly at each other it's kangaroos. They each instinctively tilt their head back and reach out at their opponents.

However the gag wouldn't work because they also grab their opponent in a head lock and kick.

Just an update, I'm done with the wisdom teeth extraction and am home resting. Things went alright though there was a last minute change of plans with the procedure as the situation unfolded. I hope the pain and numbness will subside soon. Thank you everyone for the well wishes.

@Kangaar Foxfire, on silly sitcoms you may see people get into a slap fight like this, played for laughs of course. It suggests they are too naive to actually put up a good fight. Three Stooges, not Jackie Chan.

@Jan: good to hear the extractions went on without major problems. And yes, expect to live for the next few days on the maimum allowed dose of paracetamol/acetaminophen and make intimate friendship with ice packs, that's just natural, but if you keep the wounds clean (to avoid infections) you can live the comfortable thought that things will go constantly better from here and after a month or so noting will remind you of this anymore, well, except maybe a medical bill and some extracted teeth, if you decided to keep them ;-)

I check nearly every day, nothing weird happens IRL. I take a break from webcomics for a week or so, you get your wisdom teeth removed. Well anyhow, I hope it goes well and you don't suffer much post-trauma stuff. I had to have practically half of my entire dentition replaced; trust me you don't want that to happen to you. One day a week, 4-5 sessions of 4h each, always followed by hours of numb jaw and unchecked drooling... plus burns and blood from the corner of my mouth. Because that damn assistant kept pulling on my mouth's corner too hard and tearing open small wounds, or touching my flesh with that pen-sized UV lamp they used to solidify the fillings but it overheated. So uhhh, yea - glad to see you pulled through that. Pun intended.
