And that's this story arc, and the second book of Swords and Sausages, complete! Woo! \o/

What will happen to Silver, Kiela, and feral Tor? The story will continue in the next volume: Swords and Sausages: Side Quests!

Thank you everyone for the tremendous support in bringing this set of chapters, which ultimately took eight years, to realization! It means the world to me ^^

So, what's next? My thoughts are a mess right now, but the plan now revolves around printing the second book of Swords and Sausages. This includes:

A bunch of extra "epilogue" montages to follow this page
Touching up art for the 194 pages (!) since chapter 9
The book cover art
Book layouts, etc.
An epic thank-you picture, featuring everyone's characters. I haven't added any installments to the contributors' pictures since 2019, so I feel really guilty letting it lapse! More details for submitting character information to follow
Setting up a pre-order or crowdfunding system
To have all this done by Christmas...?!

It's another mountain to climb, albeit not as huge as the eight-year one we're on top of, so I'll be staying busy!

Has it been 8 years already? Wow, time really flies, I still remember when S&S was just a teaser on Jans website, already hinting at the "prophecy". Congrats on a work well done, buddy.

Well, I'm waiting for the preorder being available, chalk me up for book two, I have number one already, getting the second is a forgone conclusion :-)

It has been a pleasure following you through this chapter. I think the way you ended this chapter was a better way than you originally described it to me, several years ago. To be fair it isn't that different, the bunnies, the King all turned out to be the same. What changed was what happened to Tor and the fact that Kiela is going to be around for at least Book 3!!! Yay!!!

Seriously it amazes me when you would tell me a joke you thought up 10+ years ago, then to see it finally come to life in a comic. Talk about waiting a long time for a payoff! I can't wait to see if (REDACTED) and (REDACTED) finally meet up with (REDACTED) to do (REDACTED). :) :)

Here is to another 15+ years!

Now we know why Tor wasn't on trial and why only Silver was exiled.

The question that remains is whether he is still intelligent or has he regressed to a fully feral tiger. Though I doubt that given his confused look in the last panel. Given that look I believe he still has a limited amount of civility in him so he wouldn't attack a sentient creature unless provoked.

And looking at page 87's first panel it seems that Tor has a more feral tiger's shoulder, back, and rump. A bit of foreshadowing perhaps.

Silver escaped punishment, @LionkingCMSL because the Sheriff stepped in and vouched for her. Why the Sheriff did that, only he knows. Perhaps it was because of what happened to Tor or maybe it was because he is a man of the law and did really believe that Tor/Silver/Kiela all did work to bring the King back to his original form.

What I find interesting is the little pause that Silver makes here when Kiela suggests that they could just dump all the rabbits at once. Past Silver would probably have immediately gone for this plan, but considering the look she gave the Sheriff when he said "Do not disappoint me," I think maybe things have changed for her.

What's stopping you? A) You gave your word. B) The likely ecological damage dumping that many feral rabbits into one spot will do? (Even though I don't know if either of you even knows the word "ecological.") C) You gave your word. D) They'd be able to tell pretty quick if you just dumped them all and ran. @Spring. It took 8 years to finish book 2. He is coming back for book 3, but probably not until the new year. There will be more!

@Brighttail I meant why Tor wasn't exiled with Silver. You are correct when the sheriff stepped in for Silver's defense and that is probably why she wasn't permanently exiled. I think the king and queen realize what Silver had done to restore the king to his rightful place and form.

I wonder if the king remembers anything from his bunny form. If so he knows that Silver and Tor did not kidnap him.

It is also telling the sheriff said, "Her companion brought his majesty home." Notice he did not mention Tor by name, though the king and queen know of Tor. In fact, the king, when in bunny form, thought he would have the two of them summarily executed.

Looks like some of the Barbarians and bunnies are choosing to remain in Vale Valley, much to the consternation of the King.

Tor, Silver and company will be back. It's inevitable.

What I find interesting is that Kiela made the suggestion in the first place. I never realized she was that devious. Perhaps Tor and Silver have been a bad influence on her?

"Feral" Tor is pretty cute. We'll have to see how long he's stuck that way, and what kind of mischief he can still get into. I'm betting a lot.

Also, what's keeping those rabbits from just bailing and running away right now? Such well-behaved wild animals.

He changed into a bit regressed form, but his feelings didn't changed. He lost the ability of understanding the spoken words, but still the friendly goofball, who it was before. (Also before the courtroom there was mentioned, that the sheriff would look after him in the infirmary during the judgement, suggesting that something serious happened to him when protected Kiela from the bouncing raw magic.)

My guess, @LionkingCMSL is that Tor is not able to communicate and the Crown felt legally they couldn't sentence a tiger to anything. The Crown also probably didn't want to bring Tor into the courtroom because of several reasons. 1. Feral Tiger 2. Wouldn't look good for Queen to be sentencing Silver/Kiela when their companion is now worse off than the King was. 3. It would simply be embarrassing.

When the King was a non-anthropomorphic rabbit, he still understood what was going on, so Tor is his old self under there. Also, we don't know how smart dragons are, so it occured to me Bapple just might start talking after hanging around with the anthropomorphs long enough. I also wonder about gryphons, too.

I have been around since the middle of the making of this book and i have went back to read the entire thing, and i have to say, AMAZING JOB! I have found joy and lots of laughs while reading the adventures of Silver and Tor leading up to where they are now. I hope you have a wonderful time and keep up the good work @Jan!
