All things considered, that's exceptional aim! A few inches down and things would have been a lot worse, and at that range, that's only a few fractions of a degree difference in where you aimed.

So, you have very steady hands to get a fireball that close to target and not either 1, hit the blackboard, or 2, hit your teacher instead of just their hair.

..He's a magic teacher. Of course that particular burning smell is familiar. Jan, even though it's an RPG thing, you might want to look up GURPS IOU. It's a setting book of a university that among other things, teaches both magic and weird science (I'll put it this way...Wolf would be considered rather dull among the WUSE (Weird and Unusual Science & Engineering) department. Especially their High Energy Physics department. :-) ) As part of their employee perks, professors there get limited invulnerability treatments...and they need it--in both the science and magic colleges. Just as a side note, it's illustrated by the excellent Phil Foglio, and available in PDF form on DriveThruRPG.

Poor Kiela.... Tried to deal with that annoying mozzie, not realizing that a deer's skin, like, several other species, is quite thick and tough, thus being essentially mosquito proof. Horseflies on the other hand..... -thinks for a moment- Or, did she mistake said mozzie for a horsefly?
